Crisis respite information

Some of the mental health recovery sites in the rural south of the Waikato DHB area have beds that can be used for crisis respite.

Rural south respite bed providers

  • Ballymena (Putaruru)
  • Braeburn (Matamata)
  • Manaaki Trust (Taumarunui)
  • Te Whare Ruruhau (Te Kuiti)

Access to rural south crisis respite beds

Access to crisis respite beds at these services can be arranged via the Crisis Assessment and Home Treatment (CAHT) team, or rural South community mental health team clinicians.

Rural south community key workers can liaise directly with providers of respite beds for people requiring short-term crisis stays. Ahikāroa should be notified by the clinical key worker when a rural south respite bed is used, so that funding can be arranged.

Notify Ahikāroa for funding purposes

While Ahikāroa does not coordinate access to the crisis beds at these services, we do complete the funding and should be notified when they are used.

The clinical key worker or clinician should email the following information to: ahikaroa@wisegroup.co.nz

  • Name and NHI of tangata whai ora
  • Name of residential service
  • Entry date
  • Exit date
  • Plan upon exit
