Residential coordination and housing support

Ahikāroa is a service for people who are receiving secondary mental health and addiction services from the Waikato DHB or Hauora Waikato.

We connect people with mental health residential recovery services or independent housing across the Waikato region.

At every step of the way, we work in partnership with tāngata whai ora, their whānau, clinical teams and other services, to understand people’s needs and support access to a range of housing options.

A quick overview

The Ahikāroa service is provided by community housing provider LinkPeople, which is part of the Wise Group.

Ahikāroa means ‘long burning fires’ in te reo Māori. The name was gifted to our service and reflects the fact that we support tāngata whai ora and honour their dream of what a home and community means for them.
